April Wrap Up and May TBR

Hello Lovelies.

Sorry this ones a few days late. It’s been a hectic old month. I’m just getting ready to start a new job and that on top of reading, looking after the puppy and general day to day chores has got me wrapped up. But I am getting there! April was an average reading month for me. I read the planned books that I pulled out for my TBR but no extras. There weren’t many standout books for me but I did read a couple of good ones!

April Wrap up

The Midnight Library – Matt Haig 🌟🌟🌟

I found this book to be a bit average for me. Which I was disappointed about. Because I adore Matt Haig. But I think it was the classic thing of Instagram and hype reviews ruining it for me. I heard so many good things, and I feel like it just didn’t live to the hype. It’s a lovely book and I did enjoy it, but I felt a little deflated after reading it.

The Hypnotist – Lars Kepler 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I found this book terrifying and gripping. I love a scary thriller and this was just it. I think Lars Kepler is quickly becoming one of my favourite thriller/horror writers. I cannot wait to read more.

The Gilded Ones – Namina Forna 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I adored this book! Adored. I couldn’t put it down. It was so engrossing and feminism heavy. I read it so quickly and I cannot wait for the second book to come out next year. This is easily my favourite book that I have read this year.

Exciting Times – Naoise Dolan 🌟🌟🌟

It was a lovely read, a little slow in places but overall I quite enjoyed it. I would definitely be interested in reading more books by the same author.

Girl A – Abigail Dean DNF

I DNF’d this book after 2 chapters because literally nothing had happened and I just wasn’t feeling it.

Luster – Raven Leilani 🌟🌟🌟🌟

A really interesting read. It’s different to the books that I would normally read and I am glad that I read it. It is hard to read at points and it is quite a straight to the point, honest and hard hitting book.

May TBR

Book Club Pick : The Book Club C.J. Cooper

Gifted Copy : Rico Stays – Ed Duncan

NetGalley: The Circus of Wonders – Elizabeth MacNeal

TBR Jar 1: The Guest List – Lucy Foley

TBR Jar 2: The Witcher – Andrzej Sapowski

I am most looking forward to The Circus of Wonders for my May TBR. I loved The Doll Factory and I am still in shock that I actually got approved for it! Overall though, I fell like I have some potentially great books on the list this month!
